Taylor Swift fans given warning by police ahead of Liverpool shows

Taylor Swift fans have been issued a warning regarding their behaviour ahead of Thursday’s Liverpool show.

Fans have been informed they are not to camp and only travel if necessary to the area if necessary as the city gets set to host three sell-out shows of the Eras tour. It comes as Merseyside Police said it was using a number of different tactics to make sure the crowds remained safe at all times.

Ch Supt Zoe Thornton, who has been tasked with overseeing the Taylor Swift operation urged fans to “only travel when the concert is opening” and also warned them “do not camp”.

She said: “We have got two elements for early entry for the pitch, so there will be staggered times so that should help resolve people queuing unnecessarily, our advice is to only come when the concert is opening. But knowing the stands and seeing the actual view of the stadium you are going to have a really good view of Taylor Swift.”

“Do not think you can camp, and look to secure proper accommodation,” she added.

As well as this, the force has been working with Liverpool City Council and Liverpool Football Club to provide a clear security and transport plan for the concerts. These plans have been put together over the past six months and sees the public asked to be “vigilant and to trust their instincts”.

Safety measures in place include increased police patrols around Anfield Stadium and in the city centre, including at some of its major train stations. This includes Liverpool Lime Street and Liverpool Central.

Elsewhere there will be road closures surrounding the stadium from midday on the day of each concert. Police will also have Project Servator deployments in place, which are officers who are specially trained to spot giveaway signs that someone could be planning criminal activity.

The update comes after a man was arrested at a show in Edinburgh over the weekend. News broke of a man’s arrest and charge of “voyeurism”.

Despite the incident, Taylor took to social media to thank those who had attended. She shared a number of image from the Scottish shows and said: “Edinburgh!!! You truly blew me away this weekend.

“Thank you for breaking the all-time attendance record for a stadium show in Scotland 3 times in a row and for all the ways you made us feel right at home. Love you, all 220,000 of you!!!”
