American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy’s latest project Grotesquerie will officially premiere on Wednesday, September 25.
Made up of 10 hair-raising episodes, the horror series focuses on a small community shaken by unspeakable events. A synopsis teases: “Detective Lois Tryon feels these crimes are eerily personal, as if someone—or something—is taunting her.
At home, Lois grapples with a strained relationship with her daughter, a husband in long-term hospital care and her own inner demons.
“With no leads and unsure of where to turn, she accepts the help of Sister Megan, a nun and journalist with the Catholic Guardian. Sister Megan, with her own difficult past, has seen the worst of humanity, yet she still believes in its capacity for good.
“Lois, on the other hand, fears the world is succumbing to evil. As Lois and Sister Megan string together clues, they find themselves ensnared in a sinister web that only seems to raise more questions than answers.”
Primetime Emmy Award-winning actress Niecy Nash-Betts (Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story) leads the cast as Lois, while Lesley Manville (The Crown), Courtney B. Vance (Lovecraft Country), Micaela Diamond (The Gilded Age), Nicholas Chavez (General Hospital), Raven Goodwin (Abbott Elementary) and sportsman Travis Kelce take supporting roles.
Thanks to his romance with pop star Taylor Swift, Kelce’s stock in the public eye has risen stratospherically in the past year. This will mark his first foray into acting.
Just this month, one of the couple’s confidants told The Daily Mail how Kelce has almost become Swift’s “built-in bodyguard” during her Eras Tour, which was the target of an unsuccessful terrorist attack in Vienna recently.
“Taylor’s family and everyone who knows her is so relieved by her relationship with Travis not only because she is madly in love but also because he makes her security personnel job much easier,” they commented. “No one will try to come close to her when she is holding hands with her powerhouse boyfriend.”
Kelce himself said on the New Heights podcast: “I feel like whenever I’m on a date, I’m always having the sense that I’m a man in the situation. I’m protective, yeah, for sure. You always have to have that feeling or self-awareness, I guess.”
